Looking at installing a continuous kiln but were pretty much scared off by many reports of them burning to the ground if they catch on fire. We have direct fired kilns and if we have a fire, we can keep the doors closed and flood the inside with water, killing the fire by denying it oxygen. But in a continuous kiln, due to the open ends on them, the oxygen supply cannot be cut off so the kiln burns.
Is there a fire safe, direct fired, continuous kiln manufacturer or modification for existing ones that would make one safe from burning to ground if were to catch fire?
Any advice is much appreciated.
