Kiln Coating
« on: March 19, 2012, 01:21:48 PM »
Does anyone have an opinion about having your kilns coated? I have hears every year, and I have heard every 3-5 years. Some have even went as far to say, it is a waste of money.

What are your thoughts??

Every 2 years works for me as long as the kiln is prepped well before the kiln coat is applied. I make sure the fan shrouds get cleaned off well before application too.

Thanks Mike
I had my 5 kilns coated last year, and it was spendy to say the least!! I am just wondering how great the pay back is from doing every 2 years. I know the old stuff they used to use was very think, and coated eveything very well, it just seems like the stuff they are using now days is a very light coat, almost like spray paint.
